Who we are.
First Church of the Brethren is a congregation that has over a 100 year history in the Wichita community. For a little over the last 60 years our church building has been located on the border between the Riverside and Midtown Neighborhoods at 10th and Jefferson. The people of our church, however, come from all around the city of Wichita and surrounding communities. We come from all different walks of life and points on our journey of faith.
We welcome all people to become a part of this congregation, and we work to be involved in the lives others in our neighborhoods, city and world.

Connected to tradition, living in the present.
Our congregation is a part of the denomination called the Church of the Brethren, which part of the larger Anabaptist tradition. Informed by this tradition our local congregation feels called to listen for the voice of the Holy Spirit, seriously follow the teachings and example of Jesus, work for reconciliation and justice within ourselves and in our world, live simply as good stewards of the gifts God has given us and be agents of God's peace here on earth all while living humbly in relationship with all people. |
