On June 12, 2016 our congregation decided to join Family Promise of Greater Wichita.  Family Promise is a nationwide organization with almost 200 local affiliates that works to provide help and shelter to families who are in a situation of homelessness.

Families spend the day at a day center where they have access to job counseling, computers, telephones, parenting classes, financial counseling, laundry, showers and other things to help them get back on their feet and keep them out of homelessness.

In the evenings the families go to a local congregation for supper, evening family time and overnight.  Our church has agreed to be one of 13 churches in the Wichita area who will open our doors for 1 week at a time, 4 times a year.

If you would like to help with the Family Promise week here at our church please email our church volunteer coordinator, Roger Elkins.  There are a variety of ways to help throughout the week, from bringing food, to spending the night, to simply hanging out with the families.
